A Thorough Consultation

The most crucial part of a visit to the hairdresser is the consultation. The consultation is vital to a great hair color or hair style. This is the precious time when the client communicates her desires to her hairdresser. Although it may sound like a rather simple conversation, the hairdresser has to be keen and listen to every word the client speaks. This kind of attention to the client's vision can require time and patience. After listening to the client, it's the hairdresser's job to assess whether the idea is suitable and practical for the client's hair texture, complexion and facial structure. Sometimes the most important words are those that are never said. If a woman makes a reference to her girlfriend's hair or how she used to wear her hair when she was younger, she is sending you a message. I call these the words between the lines. They are the silent volumes of her likes and dislikes.

Amae gives a thorough Client Intake Consultation to every client at every visit (not just the first visit).

The haircuts are categorized so that you can easily find exactly what you are looking for. The Blowdry Finish completes your haircut and allows Amae to teach you how to easily recreate your style at home.

Brazillian Keratin Transformation

Amae is a certified technician in MANY straightening systems. The salon also offers a large selection of hair straightening systems to suit the needs of our diverse clientelle. Our most requested and performed are the Pravana, Simply Smooth, Chi, Matrix and Rusk systems.      

FORMALDEHYDE FREE

In early July 2009, Amae became certified in Simply Straight Brazilian Keratin Transformation Treatments (Also known as Simply Smooth). This system is different because it is formaldehyde free and is not a chemical process. The keratin is derived from human hair and from botanicals and is used to smooth the hair and give it lots of shine.

LOW MAINTENANCE - NO LINE OF GROW OUT

Another huge difference is that this process is temporary, and for those with very curly hair, your hair can still be styled curly. The process will remove frizz and give a smoother texture that can be blown smooth in half the time. It lasts around 12-16 weeks. During this time period your natural texture will slowly return. This provides a less strict maintenance schedule and does not lock anyone into a style. Another great factor is that it can be used on hair that has been relaxed, permed, or colored.

GREAT FOR GREY HAIR

For those clients who have let their hair naturally go grey it can be a great tool to tame the unruly texture.

GREAT FOR DAMAGED HAIR

It is also a great solution for hair that is damaged because it will restructure and recondition the hair fibers. Although it is great for curly, frizzy, or damaged hair it can be used on any hair type for incredible shine.

COLOR THE SAME DAY

The process takes about one and a half to two hours, and it is possible to schedule a color the same day if needed. If the hair is not colored that day it is recommended to wait ten days. For maintenance the client will want to use the shampoo and conditioner to prolong the life of the service.

Some people do a serious degree of damage to their hair. We have the capability to fix it. We will assess the damage and prescribe the cure. This is not just a "deep conditioning treatment". This is actual structural transformation. We have six different categories in three damage levels.

We will prescribe the appropriate hair care regimen that you will need to maintain your restored hair. Miracles ARE possible so don't give up hope.

1. Gim'me Strength: for limp, lifeless or stringy, "spongy" hair
2. Prime Me 4 Color: an excellent preparation for color adhesion

Extreme Thermal Healing

Prices are based on hair length and thickness. For exact prices, ask your technician prior to service. Thermal healing treatments start at $45.00. We also offer both Chi Silk and Rusk Thermal Healing.
